# RSS and Atom feeds (/docs/troubleshooting/feeds)

## The feed is invalid [#the-feed-is-invalid]

Open the URL directly and confirm it returns RSS or Atom XML rather than a publication homepage, HTML
error page, or login form. Use the publisher's dedicated feed URL.

## The source already exists [#the-source-already-exists]

Reuse the existing source and select it in the reading list. Duplicate URLs are not added again.

## The source was rejected as unsafe [#the-source-was-rejected-as-unsafe]

eReader Relay accepts normal public feeds without manual review. It rejects destinations that resolve
to private or unsafe networks, or redirects that cross a network-safety boundary. Use the canonical
public feed URL. Do not attempt to obscure or bypass the destination.

## Fetch failed [#fetch-failed]

The feed may have timed out, returned an HTTP error, redirected too many times, exceeded its size
limit, or become unavailable. Retry once after confirming the public URL works. Record the precise
reason code if the failure continues.

## The edition did not contain a recent post [#the-edition-did-not-contain-a-recent-post]

* Confirm the entry is newer than that reading list's saved position.
* Confirm the feed actually published the entry; a website update does not always update its feed.
* Confirm the feed is still selected in the list.
* Use **Run now** only after a new entry exists.

The first run includes the latest existing entry; later runs do not repeatedly include old entries.

## A summary was used instead of the full article [#a-summary-was-used-instead-of-the-full-article]

The feed may provide only a summary and its linked page may be unreadable or inaccessible. Use a
full-content feed when the publisher offers one. Linked article enrichment is best effort.
