RSS and Atom feeds

eReader Relay supports public RSS and Atom feeds that return valid XML and usable entries.

Entry selection

The first reading-list edition uses the latest existing entry so setup can be tested without waiting for a future publication. Later editions use entries newer than that list's saved position. Processing is bounded to a limited number of entries per feed run to keep editions manageable.

Full content and summaries

• Complete entry content, including common content:encoded payloads, is sanitized and used directly.
• A short summary may be replaced by the linked public article when that produces a more complete readable chapter.
• If the linked page cannot be fetched, the usable feed content can still be preferred when it is sufficient.

Requirements

• The feed and followed article URLs must be publicly reachable.
• Redirects must remain within safe public destinations.
• The response must fit the service's size and time limits.
• The XML must identify valid feed entries.

HTML pages that merely mention a feed are not themselves feed URLs. Look for the publisher's RSS or Atom link, often ending in .xml, /feed, or /rss.
